Hi, I’m Kevin Eikenberry. I am the author of the best-selling book, Remarkable Leadership: Unleashing Your Leadership Potential One Skill at a Time. In the book, I discuss the 13 competencies of Remarkable Readership, which is the basis for most everything we do.
I am also the author of Vantagepoints on Learning and Life, a collection of my email essays on learning from everyday experiences, #LeadershipTweet: 140 Bite Sized Ideas to Help You Become the Leader You Were Born to Be, and the co-author of the bestselling of From Bud to Boss: Secrets to a Successful Transition to Remarkable Leadership.
I write a weekly email-based newsletter, Unleashing Your Remarkable Potential, which is read by thousands each week, and I have been blogging since 2004. My current blog, Leadership and Learning, has been regularly recognized as one of the best leadership blogs in the world.
Because of all of that, Inc.com has named me one of the top 100 Leadership and Management Thinkers.
And … I have the honor of leading the team and serving amazing Customers at the Kevin Eikenberry Group – the company I founded in 1993. So I think about and write about leadership. I coach, and in a variety of other ways, help leaders around the world become more effective leaders. Perhaps most importantly, I lead a team myself.
All of this informs both why this podcast exists, and why it was created in the way that it was. You can expect conversations about leadership from experts and practitioners – all with the same goal – to help you learn and grow as a leader – to help you become the leader and human being you were born to be.
My Philosophy
I believe that every person and every organization has extraordinary potential. And that we only truly realize this potential through investments of time, energy, focus and money.
I also believe that learning is an active, ongoing process, not a passive, one-time event. Learning, work and life should be fun; and, if we are doing it right, work (and learning) is play.
My goal with the Remarkable Leadership Podcast is to help you see the world differently, lead more confidently, make a bigger difference for those you lead and to realize the vast potential in yourself and others.
My Biography
After my graduation from Purdue University, I began my professional career at Chevron where I worked in a variety of roles including sales, marketing, as a learning consultant, and eventually as the person responsible for training Chevron trainers around the world.
On September 30, 1993, I turned in my badge and office key at Chevron in downtown San Francisco, and the next day I started my business – the business now known as The Kevin Eikenberry Group. We are a leadership and learning consulting company whose mission is to make a REMARKABLE difference … for leaders and future leaders, their teams, their organizations, and the world.
My Family & Personal Life
I grew up on a farm near a small town in west central Michigan where we raised a variety of crops and hogs and had a fertilizer and seed business. It was my work here alongside my father that taught me some of my most important leadership lessons.
I’ve been married to my wife, Lori, since 1986, and am the father of two great children. The lessons as a husband and a parent translate to being a better leader too, if we heed them! I have a passion for reading, leadership, all things Purdue and antique tractors (especially those painted John Deere green and yellow). We reside in Indianapolis, IN and this unique hobby has given me the opportunity to drive many of my 11 tractors in parades, including at many Indiana State Fairs.
